My Lucky Day

Oxalis triangularis

Even though “shamrock” (oxalis) is closely associated with St. Patrick’s Day and the luck of the Irish, it is in fact a native of South Africa.  However, that fact alone should not keep you from enjoying this beauty.  It is easy to grow, in fact so much so that you should beware, because oxalis can have a tendency to overtake whatever space it’s planted, so try placing your lucky charm in a pot.  This plant is called oxalis triangularis (purple shamrock).
